Twin half centuries by Pawan Devinda helped Mahanama draw against a strong Trinity batting unit that posted 302 for the loss of 4 wickets in their first innings.

Cricket U19 - Mahanama vs Maliyadeva

Match Summary - 1st Innings win to Mahanama, Match drawn (Feb 2011)

Mahanama were deprived of an outright win as rain ended play in their match against Maliyadeva. Taking first lease of the wicket, Maliyadva scored 222 runs with Chatura Wanniarrachi shining yet again for Mahanama with 5 wickets. Janaka Dayananda chipped in with 3 wickets. None of the Maliyadeva batsmen were able to convert their starts in to a half century.

In reply, Pavan Devinda and Duleeka Tissakuttige made well compiled half centuries to steer Mahanama into a strong position and a first innings lead of 63 runs. 

Maliyadeva were 7 wickets down and holding a slim lead of just 62 runs when rain ended play early with depriving Mahanama of a chance to finish off the match.

Match Summary - 1st Innings win to Prince of Wales, Match drawn (Feb 2011)

In a closely fought contest that could have gone either way, Prince of Wales were 156 for 8 wickets at close of play at Moratuwa, chasing a victory target of 163. The hosts began strongly and were 97 for 2 wickets at one stage before Janaka Dayananda and Chathura Wanniarachchi grabbed 7 wickets between themselves to end the match in a tense finish.

Earlier, after been bundled out for just 121 in their first innings, Mahanama posted a healthy 263 in their second outing to tilt the balance in their favour. Chatura Jayasinghe missed out on a century on 94 and  Chatura Wanniarrachchi again displayed his all round skills with a half century and a match bag of 7 wickets.

Mahanama College scored a first innigs win over Nalanada College in a match highlighted by a strong all round performance by Chatura Wanniarachchi for Mahanama who took a match bag of 7 wickets and scored valuable half century in their 1st innings.
